The week we were invited to film the Steve Lucente Memorial Pheasant Hunt. This hunt is for kids to learn about the outdoors, hunting, fishing and trapping and get a chance to go after some pheasants with professional guides and some amazing dogs.
Oregon’s Ruggs Ranch is the scene for a gaggle of flushing and pointing breeds chasing wild Huns and chukars in the sere hills of Northeast Oregon. Once again, Scott takes a hunting guide and gets him actually hunting for a change.
Friends from east and west … and “downeast” convene at Georgia’s Dream Ranch for a versatile dog tour-de-force. This time, it’s well-trained shorthairs showing everyone how finished dogs get the job done on bobwhite quail.
Massive cattail sloughs harbor clouds of wild pheasants at Gettysburg, South Dakota’s Brown’s Hunting Ranch. The question is, can a bunch of German Wirehaired Pointers put any in the air within gun range?
